About us

The Sino-German Cultural and Economic Association is the oldest Chinese-German Friendship Association.

Since its foundation in 1993, the CDKWV has seen the promotion of the Chinese-German relations at its goal. Since 1949, the group has its headquarter in Taipei, Taiwan. 

The CDKWV is one of the most important addresses especially for Taiwanese people who want to start contacting Germany out of different reasons. Our association is giving both business and legal advice and is helping with academic questions. Besides, we are helping with translations and certify official documents, like certifications of birth, diplomas etc. 

The CDKWV is a non-profit organisation, which is financed largely by its member fees and support of sponsors, but we are also supported by the German representations in Taiwan and the Taiwanese Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Currentlz, the association has around 800 members - the majority is Chinese - of who around 400 are activ members. 

Many members of the association are successful businessmen, who are maintaining business contacts to Germany, but also many politicians, lawyers and artists belong to the association.

The association is also supporting exhibitions and concerts. For example our Millenium Concert in April 2000 was very successful, where famous Taiwanese artists, who used to study in Germany, performed. 

The association defines its goals as the following:

1.  Promotion of the cultural and economic exchange between the Republic of China and the German speaking countries. 

2.  Advice for local students concerning study opportunities and scholarships in the German speaking countries as well as help with the application for a visa.  

3.  Help for students from German speaking countries in Taiwan. 

4.  Counseling for local entrepreneurs and entreprises concerning business and legal problems as well as acquisition of information materials. 

5.  Help and counseling for business people and travellers from German speaking countries. 

6.  Invitation and welcoming of guests from German speaking countries.

7.  Organisation of speeches and symposita about cultural, economic, legal and other themes of interest. 

8.  Fostering of the DAAD-Alumni-Contacts

9.  Fostering of the personal and social relations within the communities in Taipei and Kaohsiung, by holding events regularily, like the "Stammtisch", Christmas parties etc. 

Our goals for the upcoming months:

● Promotion of Germany as a tourist destination

● Organisation of a symposium about the German copy right

● Establishment of an internship platform
