Internships at the CDKWV

The Sino-German Cultural and Economic Association gives students the possibility to do an internship at their head quarter office in Taipei. Because of the great number of interested students, an early application is recommended. The interns support the work of the association by helping out with different projects in the area of German-Taiwanese cultural and economic exchange. There is also the possibility to be assigned a complete project to work on independently. An internship at the CDKWV offers the unique opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and economics in the exciting metropolis of Taipei, gain working experience in an international context, to build up a personal network thanks to the various relations of the association and last but not least to get to know the beautiful country of Taiwan and its warm and welcoming people. In this sense an internship at the CDKWV can be a great preparation for an international career, especially in Asia.

    FAQ: Frequently asked questions

What kind of qualifications do I need for an internship at the CDKWV?

The internship is intended for university students interested in working in Asia. We have no special preference for your area of studies, for us it is much more important that the student shows ethusiasm for working in a foreign environment and is flexible and friendly.

Is it necessary to speak Chinese (Mandarin)?

In Taiwan, people speak both Mandarin and Taiwan as well as several local dialects. Of course it helps in daily life to know written and spoken Chinese. However, the experience with our former interns shows that even only with knowledge of English, you can live without any great difficulties here. Most Taiwanese speak a bit of English and are very helpful and open towards foreigners.

Is the internship paid?

Our association is a non-profit-organization and unfortunately it is not possible for us to pay our interns. However, we will help with the search for an apartment when notified in time. Besides, the costs for transportation form the apartment to the work place of the intern are reimbursed.

Is there a minimum lenght for the internship?

We recommend a minimun length of three months, but there may be exceptions in individual cases.

How early in advance shall I send my application?

An early application is recommended, but not earlier than 6 months before the planned start of the internship.

What kind of projects can I work on?

Our interns will work on different projects, like the preparation of events  to introduce German culture to Taiwan (Beer festivals, concerts, etc.), the exchange with German residing in Taiwan and Chineses managers as well as professors who are interested in Germany, help for Chinese students planning to study in Germany, translations etc.

How much does it cost?

For daily life in Taipei, you should calculate with around 15.000 NT $ ( = ca. 370 Euro, May 2005) per month. Besides the student has to pay for the round trip flight from Germany to Taiwan and back plus eventual costs for trips inside the country.

If you should have any further questions concerning the internship, plese do not hesitate to contact us at our office. Contact
